When we make penguin crafts every year I often forget about how many different types of beautiful penguins there are. Among my favorites is the Royal Penguin. They are so awesome with the bright yellow on the top of their head. If your children are big penguin fans, they will adore making this cute Royal Penguin kids craft. It makes a perfect winter kids craft and is great combined with a children’s book about penguins. Find a list of some of our favorites near the bottom of this post.

small foam cup black and white paint paint brush black and orange cardstock paper yellow feathers googly eyes toothpick scissors glue

Directions:

  1. Start by painting the outside and bottom of your foam cup with black paint. Once it has dried, turn the cup upside down and paint a white section on the front of the penguin body for his face and belly. (You could also just leave a section of the cup white when you are painting it black.)

  2. Cut an orange beak and black flippers out of your cardstock paper. Glue them onto your penguin along with your googly eyes.

  1. Poke one or two holes in the bottom of the cup and insert yellow feathers into the hole(s). We had longer feathers so we just cut off two sections from the feather. SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER TO KEEP UP WITH OUR LATEST CRAFTS AND ACTIVITIES!
